Don’t you just love this time of year when new products and ideas are filtering through? This is when I love popping out for a good day of window shopping. Tea and cake are always on the agenda as well, such a treat. Coming from a visual merchandising background I really appreciate all the work and effort that has gone into the new visual treatments and displays and I can’t resist touching and feeling all the new products and reading stories behind the designs and trends. Anna and I have always been massive fans of Habitat and they are always on our hit-list of shops to visit and its a good excuse to have a day out together either in London or Brighton. 

So let us take a look at the autumn/winter collections that have just landed. What we love about this season is that it is based on individuality and is full of personality, you will find sleek minimalist design alongside Japanese inspired lighting with mid-century classics next to luxe metallics. So if you are wanting to add sophistication to your home with rich colours and textures then head over for the Mid-century modern trend. 

70s Luxe is drawing on the Studio 54 vibe, a mix of shag pile rugs and metallics. An alternative to Scandi is the clean and uncluttered look of Japanese minimalism inspired by the wabi-sabi ceramics and handwoven textiles. And a celebration of colour, whether you prefer bold bright or elegant earthy tones then this will be for you, colour block sofas, patterned rugs, vibrant lighting and dramatic bed linen. Or just mix it up and find your own personality in the collections and pull them together in your home.

Mid Century Modern

Cooper Armchair

The retro-styled Cooper green velvet accent chair with black metal frame and solid wood armrests make a strong statement in any space. Slightly reclined with a low seat, the button-backed design encourages relaxation and nods to mid-century American pieces.

Tabitha   

The Tabitha gold metal wire lounge chair is a striking, linear design with ski legs and a reclined seat that invites you to lean back and relax.

Meticulously crafted in India from slender metal rods, the chair’s curvy, sculptural shape is not only visually appealing but guarantees a long, comfortable sit. 

 

Kira

The Kira cotton brick red velvet cushion with a statement fringed edge will add a touch of luxury to your space. 

 

 

 

 

Swift sofa

With elegantly curved arms and deep-seated cushions, the Swift velvet dusty rose sofa gives the nod to mid-century design.

Created in the Habitat design studio, it offers the utmost comfort with plump, foam and feather filled seat cushions and scattered feather-filled back cushions. Finishing touches include dark oak legs and stitch details along the curved arms.

Upholstered in our most luxurious velvet, this cotton blend fabric has a deep pile so is extremely soft to touch while also being hardwearing.

 

Japanese Interior Design

Lenni 

Black flat weave wool rug.

Inspired by Japanese minimalism, the Lenni rug combines a light, muted colour palette with texture to bring casual elegance to a room.

Handwoven in India, the rug is hand spun from 100% wool to create a fascinating texture and contrasting pile height. Its stripped-back design will complement both bright and monochrome interior.

 

 

Layton

White and Black Glass Ceiling Light

With a nod to the simple yet elegant Japanese aesthetic, the Layton white and black glass ceiling light features a white opal glass shade with contrasting black rubber detailing and an adjustable black fabric cable for a clean, minimalist look.

 

 

Delaware

Blue stoneware vase

The Delaware striped vase is a statement design with a metallic ceramic glaze.

Finished with a reactive glaze, making each piece unique, the vase looks great as a standalone decorative piece or with a tall bouquet of flowers.

 

A Celebration of Colour

Lucca

5 Arm Ceiling Light Orange   

Designed in our in-house studio by James Cottingham, the Lucca five arm ceiling light orange is Habitat’s contemporary take on a chandelier.

In a bright iconic Habitat orange colour palette, stacked opal glass globes on each arm help spread the light evenly and an adjustable matching fabric cable means you can adapt the light to your needs.

 

 

Holly

Multi-coloured flatweave recycled cotton rug.

Made from upcycled cotton sari fabric, the Holly rug is a unique design in a soft colour palette and will make a great statement piece in any room.

Exclusively designed by Habitat, this rug is made in India using traditional weaving techniques. Unravelled before use, the warm and cool coloured cotton strands of the sari are handwoven into the carpet to create new, intricate patterns in the weave and, due to the nature of the detailed design, each rug is unique.

This thick, flat-woven rug has a 3D level effect, adding warmth and character to a room.

 

 

 

Diaz

The Diaz cushion is a luxurious statement piece that will pop against pared-back interiors.

Created by our pattern designer and handwoven in India, the abstract design features woven symbols in shades of blue and coral atop a black 100% cotton base which creates both colour and textural interest.
