After a new year clear out I’m now thinking about getting organised! Shelving has been my priority as it gives plenty of storage as well as an opportunity to display my favourite objects, plants, crockery etc and move it around in my faff sessions.

Finding the right shelving very much depends on the space that you have and also the style you’re looking to achieve. My shelving was for my dining room which has taken on a scandi vibe over the last few months. I was looking at my favourite scandi Instagrammers for inspiration including Alice in Scandiland and Nordic Remake and also on Pinterest for some interesting solutions.

Here is some of the inspiration I found.

Interesting Shelving ideas

I love these textured shelves. The shelves themselves slot into the wall frame which runs in a diagonal.

I love peg walls and I’ve seen some amazing examples. I love this one that sits above the kitchen worktop giving lots of flexible storage and it looks fab too.

Another one I know, but I couldn’t resist. So good as a bed backboard!

Natural materials are all part of the scandi style and I really like these leather strap hanging shelves. Threes always work well too!

You can’t beat a beautiful ladderax unit. The vintage ones are not cheap but if you shop around you might find one that is a bargain! Flexible shelving, cupboards and hooks, ladderax is a great choice if you want to move things around and they can also hold a lot of weight if hung correctly.

If you have a large wall for shelving a wire grid might work. You can then hang shelves and units wherever you need them. I love the plants hanging from them too – industrial meets nature!

If you’re good at DIY you could have a go at making your own. I’m ok, but not this good! This chipboard unit is totally unique and can be customised to suit whatever you’re looking to store.

If you’re looking for something more simple, or smaller, there are loads of unit that you can simply fix to the wall. This one is from Notonthehighstreet.com I really like the black fixings with the light wood.
