I picked up a Farstrup table and chairs in good condition but with a nasty peach/white fabric on the chairs.
I wanted to do something a bit different, so I picked a bright moss green fabric win flecks of blue, yellow and white in it. It’s actually an M&S uphostery fabric and is really good quality and easy to work with.
I got to work in the morning and quickly realised that I could get the back rests off without destroying the wooden bung that sits on top of the screw. So I found some on eBay that I could replace them with once I’d finished. Getting the buggers out was the hardest bit! I found the best way was the turn a screw into them and then hammer the screw sideways to loosen it and then pull it out by the screw. Some worked better than others and I had to be careful not to damage the chairs.
Anyway… once I’d solved that dilemma o recovered the back rests first as they were more tricky as they were arched. Then I just had the seat cushions to go… all 6 of them!
I’m so pleased with the end result! Here are some pictures of the table in all its glory…
