It’s the 60th anniversary of the beautiful Fritz Hansen Egg Chair. The beautiful design, dreamed up by infamous designer Arne Jacobsen, has become one of the most iconic pieces of furniture of its time. The chair was designed in connection with the opening of one of the first design hotels in the world, Hotel SAS Royal in Copenhagen. Hansen developed the technique of a strong inner foam shell beneath the fabric that enabled the chair to hold its unique structure whilst also being really comfortable to sit in.

Egg chairIt’s distinctive style is completely representative of its era but the smooth sleek lines still capture our hearts today and look totally at home in today’s modern interiors.

To mark the anniversary Fritz Hansen have released anniversary editions of the Egg Chair as well as two of his other iconic chairs that also share 2018 as their anniversary; the Swan Chair and the Drop Chair.

Dressed to impress, the limited editions have a 23 karat gold coated base (yes you read that correctly) giving them a glossy finish that is just divine! All with a special 60th anniversary engraving into their smooth, pure leather, only 1958 of each have been made so if you want one you’d better get in there quickly! However, you’ll need €12,000 handy in order to buy the Egg Chair, €7,000 for a Swan and €1,000 for a Drop.
