Dusky Pink Interiors
Those who know me will know that I’m not a typical girly girl. I’ve got my own style thing and it took me a while to find it, but now I’m here I know what I like and I stick to it. Pink is a colour that I’ve only embraced in the last few years, especially in my home, but its always been reddish pinks and deep rich raspberry colours. Today I’m writing about real and proper pink interiors – although I’m prefixing it with ‘dusky’ as even I’m not ready for baby pinks!
We’ve seen an emergence of these tones in interiors magazines and they’re also creeping into the high street, so we thought we’d look at how you can bring pinks into your home.
The bedroom
Pinks in your bedroom can make a really feminine statement or they can be used with other colours to make them actually quite neutral (I know my husband would take some convincing!). The bedding is an obvious place to start..
These two use pink and greys which really for me work really well. Mixed with natural colours and textures such as the big knit throw and the sheep skin effect rug, this really works! The big statement prints in simple black frames make the style feel really modern and not too girly.
I also love pinks with copper, I think they really bring out the warmer tones in the copper.

Living areas
For me, bringing pink into a living area is much more of a commitment, but done well it can look fabulous. Its also about picking the right shade of pink that you can live with everyday.
Brave enough for walls…
Here are a few wall colours that I think work really nicely.
Yes, its pink pink! But with the styling I think this really works! The green/yellow rug is a great contrast and the teak sideboard really sets it all off. This really is my kind of style I have to admit! I’d probably never let myself own a pink sofa quite like that, but I like the walls mixed up with other colours from pieces in the room.

Now this is lovely. A rich pink with the forest green velvet sofa come chaise – beautiful! Committed from floor to ceiling, this pink wall colour is fabulous. I’d be curious to know if they painted all the walls that colour! But with ceilings that heigh I guess it would work!

Go pink with accessories
If you’re not quite ready to paint your walls pink, you can introduce it with accessories.
A statement chair or sofa can look wonderful in pink.
This gorgeous sofa looks wonderful with the geometrics in black and white.
This pink velvet chair is a true statement piece and looks wondering in this dressing room environment. It could also work in a living room. Combined with the panelled wall this really does create a luxurious feel.
This has to be my favourite. A beautiful vintage Ercol (I’m guessing!) chair with dusky pink cushions, topped with a statement cushion with embroidery. Again, tied in with the mid century modern furniture and rattan/cane side table, this really is on trend! The Macrame plant hanger int he background tops it all off for me. Right, I’s sold. Better build an extension to get this style in my home!
Other accessories
Bringing it down one notch further, you can style in some pink with some other types of accessories.
  
  
Cushions are an obvious choice, but also allow you to add texture and interest to your style. The lamps are gorgeous but pricey ($3750 Elegant Brass & Walnut Lamps by Gerald Thurston for Lightolier) and the lamp shade unfortunately I can’t find anything similar on the high street, but if I could I would be tempted!
