Christmas Tree Trends 2018

Christmas isn’t Christmas without a Christmas Tree. We always get a real tree and from the 1st December (and before) the kids are desperate to get a tree up, but we try to hold out a little so that it isn’t dead and dropping by the time Christmas Day arrives. So there we were, on the 8th December having held them off for a whole 8 days, walking around the garden centre picking up some new lights (as usual – what happens to them in the loft?!) when the fake trees caught my eye… there were actually some really nice ones there; the ‘faux’ trees that are actually quite convincing these days and the ‘not even trying to look real’ ones which were the ones that I found myself actually quite liking! The husband vetoed the idea quite quickly, but I must say that I wouldn’t be adverse to a ‘not even trying’ type in the future…

So this got me thinking, what are the tree trends this Christmas… here’s what I found.

The Scandi Christmas Tree

The Scandinavian style is minimal but beautiful. Letting the natural beauty of the tree shine through, with simple festive embellishments to give it some sparkle.

The Eclectic Christmas Tree

This doesn’t just mean that anything goes! Eclectic Christmas Trees are about bright colour and contrasting themes and styles that somehow just work!

Minimal Christmas Trees

We’ve seen lots of minimal Christmas trees going up this year too. A nice fir and a few lights are all that you need. If you’re looking to add a bit of colour, paper decorations are the way to go…
