A bright, bold blue
Quote me now, next year we will be seeing a lot more of this beautiful blue. I can’t get it out of my head. In my regular homeware haunts (Homesense, John Lewis etc) I’m drawn to it like a moth to the bank balance flame; I just can’t help myself. Last year I redecorated my lounge in beautiful Sulking Room Pink (Farrow and Ball) and I still absolutely love it. But, I’m starting to crave a little more colour and I reckon I’ve found its perfect if a little contrasting, match.
Now I’m not suggesting I add this much. Probably just an accent, but I love how the blue instantly freshens the pink and gives it punch. It’s also a little easier to swallow for my husband who has a severe allergy to pink in general.
The cobalt blue colour is fun and vibrant. Its a tricky one to match though. Of the items I’ve purchased so far on my cobalt blue hunts, not one of them is exactly the same tone. Some are more purple than others and one is distinctly teal against the others.
The 2LG lads are so good at using this colour. They’ve recently collaborated with Floor Story to create a range of rugs and cobalt blue features across the collection.

Introducing cobalt blue also gives me the chance to bring in some of my favourite artist’s prints. I’ve always loved Matisse and the Blue Nudes are exactly the right colour. It always amazes me how art stands the test of time. The Bue Nudes were painted in the ’50s but still feel modern today. They’ll definitely be on my wall.

I’m not planning to paint any walls or furniture, but cobalt blue looks great painted in a block or on feature walls. This is a great example:

I’m really inspired by the concept rooms too, although I’m not sure I’d be brave enough to implement it in my own home 🙂 I love how the pops of colour work with the blue and how the different shades of blue blend well together – which is just as well as its so hard to colour match everything.

We love Habitat’s range of sofas and some of their range is available in Cobalt blue. This one is the Wilton’s.
For accessories, you can always trawl the charity shops to find a feature piece. I found a set of blue bud vases, similar to the below for £10! The ones below are from Bohemia.
